Coffee in Grand Junction
Grand Junction coffee roasters are the biggest cluster on the Western Slope. Colorado Legacy Coffee exists because its founders' motor home broke down here in October 2003 and they stayed. Octopus Coffee opened on Horizon Drive in 2015 and now roasts its own coffee. Grand Junction's coffee story
One Grand Junction roaster owes its start to a breakdown. In October 2003 the motor home of Colorado Legacy Coffee's founders broke down in Grand Junction. They stayed, and the roastery followed.
Octopus Coffee took the cafe route first. It opened on Horizon Drive in February 2015, grew, and later began roasting its own coffee.
Grand Junction is a long way from the Front Range roasting cities, and that distance is the argument for its roasters. Coffee roasted in the Grand Valley does not spend days on a truck over the passes, and the money spent on it pays roasters who live here. We explain the rest on why local roasters matter.
