Mountain Air Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Grand Junction. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Beans are roasted on a fluid bed of heated air, which the shop says keeps them moving and stops bitter tars from building up. A coffee club called Liberty ships chosen coffees on a schedule, with whole bean, ground and K-Cup options. The Italian Alps espresso blend combines seven different coffees in a dark, Italian style roast, and all of the beans are arabica.
Most of the menu is flavored coffee, with names like Mt. Garfield Mocha, Highlander Grog and Butterscotch Toffee, plus a cold brew called Viking Swill.
What they roast
Roast levels run French Roast. House blends include Cumbustione, Morning Inspiration and Meister. Single origins on the list when we checked: Sumatra Organic, Tanzanian Peaberry, Honduras Organic, Guatemalan, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Costa Rican and Colombian. Espresso: Italian Alps Espresso Blend. The locally owned shop partners with Caprock Behavioral Services and other local businesses to create chances for community inclusion. Its product pages carry the tagline Liberty, Family, Coffee, Country, and the subscription is called the Liberty club. Bags are sold whole bean or ground for drip, espresso, French press or cold brew, and some coffees come as K-Cups.
