Pangea Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Grand Junction, founded in 2013. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Matt Kurgan and Amanda Krenn, a couple who met through coffee work, started roasting on a Diedrich IR-3 in a small Golden warehouse in 2013. A coffee truck at events and farmers markets came first, then a downtown Golden shop in 2015. Roasting moved to Grand Junction in 2025, where the business now serves wholesale accounts and online customers.
The medium espresso blend of African and Latin American coffees was used in every drink at the old Golden shop for more than ten years. Web orders ship Monday through Friday, same day or next day when placed by noon Mountain time, and offices can buy 3 ounce portion packs. The lineup mixes year round staple origins with a rotating selection, running from light roast Ethiopia and Rwanda to a dark Sumatra and the Alley Cat Blend.

Roast levels run light, medium light, medium, medium dark and dark. House blends include Alley Cat Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Ethiopia, Rwanda, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Sumatra. Espresso: Espresso (medium blend of African and Latin American coffees).
