Who picks your coffee
Joe McRose has worked in coffee for 15 years. He started as a barista and worked his way up to roasting on his own, with three years in Italy working for coffee experts and learning the craft. Now he uses that knowledge to match people with the coffee that fits them best.
He curates Fourteener Coffee Club. He picks the Colorado roasters whose coffee goes into each box, and he writes the roaster profiles, guides and posts on this site.
When you set your roast level, style and grind in the plan builder, Joe matches that to a Colorado roaster's lineup. After each box you rate the bag, and he uses those ratings to choose the next roaster's coffee for you.
How I pick your coffee
I start with the roaster's own pages: where they roast, what they roast, and whether they are still roasting when I check. Then I match your roast level, style and grind to what that roaster makes. Your ratings tell me what to change for the next bag. If a bag disappoints you, write to us and we replace it.
How he chooses roasters and writes this site
Joe lists roasters that roast in Colorado and were operating when he checked. The rules are on how we choose roasters. Every roaster page is written from the roaster's own pages and public sources, with the date he checked them, and a listing does not mean the roaster is part of the club. No roaster pays to be listed, and none is a partner of the club.
