Bestslope Coffee Company is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Fruita. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
All coffee is roasted on site in Fruita, and syrups, baked goods and daily breakfast burritos come from the same kitchen. Every bean is single origin and Fair Trade, and the company also services and repairs coffee equipment. One current lot comes from the Las Lajas micromill in Savanilla de Alajuela, in the Central Valley of Costa Rica, and goes through a process called Alma Negra.
Its Kenya offering is a washed coffee from the Kibugu Farmers Cooperative in Embu, which counts about 1,050 small farmer members. Most coffees are sold in 12 ounce bags or in 4 and 6 pound bags, which take about three days to prepare, and the decaf is a Huila lot treated with ethyl acetate.

Single origins on the list when we checked: Huehuetenango, Guatemala, Las Lajas Micromill, Costa Rica, Tanzania Peaberry, Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia and Kibugu Farmers Coop, Kenya. The site describes Fruita as a Western Slope town of mountain bikes, desert hikes and river floats, and the company takes donation requests. The kitchen takes orders for baked goods for local events, and the company has a request form for donations to community causes. Along with coffee it stocks Hario V60 drippers, filters and scales for home pour over brewing.
