Wander Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Fort Collins, founded in 2016. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Kyle worked as a barista, manager and trainer, then held head roaster jobs at operations large and small before going out on his own. He moved home to the Rockies and opened the Fort Collins roastery in November 2016, taking a single online order on day one. Besides roasting, the family owned business handles maintenance and repairs for coffee machines.
New coffees are first roasted a handful at a time on a sample roaster, and the finished recipes are scaled up to 20 pound batches on the drum roaster. A thermal oxidizer on the roaster burns off about 95 percent of the smoke pollutants, and the company invites people to book a visit to see the setup. Working through its importers, the company says it pays growers more than the Fair Trade minimum.

House blends include Twilight Blend, Wilder Blend, Night Sky Blend and Happy Trails' House Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Burundi Kayanza, Guatemala Huista and Crown Jewel Uganda Honey Rwenzori. Espresso: Espresso Blend. Decaf: Decaf Blend.
