Café Richesse is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Fort Collins. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Its signature coffee, Brazil Conquista, is grown on the family's own farms in the southern highlands of Bahia, Brazil. The farms use drip irrigation developed at Colorado State University and leave large areas of timber untouched for wildlife. The roaster has called Fort Collins home since 1993 and describes itself as having strong local ties in the city.
Brazil Conquista doubles as the house coffee; it is semi washed and comes in a decaf version too. The blend list leans medium to dark, which the roaster presents as a traditional style of roasting it has kept over the years. Wholesale clients along the Front Range and in other states can order 12 ounce, 1 pound, 2 pound or 5 pound bags, plus pre-measured portion packs of regular or decaf.
What they roast
Roast levels run medium, medium dark and dark. House blends include Daybreak, Choice City, Kim's Blend, Farmers' Market and I Love Mondays. Single origins on the list when we checked: Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Kenya Chania, Peru Fair Trade Organic, Brazil Conquista, Mexico Alturas and Sumatra Mandheling. Espresso Roast. The retail store at the roastery opens Monday to Thursday from 9 to 2 and Friday mornings; the site asks visitors to call ahead.
