ShortD's is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Frederick. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Owner Dawnn started working in coffee in 2001 and began roasting in 2018; the name is pronounced like Shorty's. Every batch is roasted on demand, and the roaster records each buyer's preferred roast level so later orders match. A mobile trailer called Beans serves coffee at events and handles catering around Northern Colorado.
Five coffees are sold in one pound bags, each dated on roasting, and customers who choose trailer pickup get a free drink with the order. The roaster says it buys only single origin coffees from farms that avoid synthetic chemicals and fertilizers, such as a Colombian Supremo and a Brazilian Santos. Jon handles building, repairs and events behind the scenes, while Dawnn does the roasting and serves from the trailer.

Why buying from ShortD's matters here
The home page calls it a local roaster in Frederick, and it pours at community events across Northern Colorado. Pawprints, a City+ blend named for the late Bernese Mountain Dog mascot Morgan, supports Lifeline Puppy Rescue, a no-kill shelter in the Rocky Mountain region. Besides coffee and cold brew, the trailer serves Italian sodas, lemonades and tea mixes, and licensed bartending can add espresso cocktails for private events.
Every bag bought from a Frederick roaster pays roasting and cafe wages in Colorado, and the coffee reaches you days after roasting instead of months. That is the reason the club exists. Why local roasters matter.
