Serranos Coffee Company is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Monument. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Serranos describes itself as a retail and wholesale specialty roaster. Beans come whole or ground, in store or by phone order to its roasterie. Wholesale accounts get coffee roasted to order and delivered or shipped each week, with custom blends and co-branded labels available for cafes and restaurants. The bean list covers Colombia Supremo, Guatemala Antigua, Kenya AA and Sumatra Mandheling among others, plus Vienna, Italian and French dark roasts; for the Kenya, only auction lots with enough body are chosen.
What they roast
Roast levels run medium, dark, Vienna Roast, Italian Roast and French Roast. House blends include House, Mocha Java, Peaks Coffee, Carl's Blend and Monument Hill. Single origins on the list when we checked: Colombia Supremo, Costa Rica Tarrazu, Guatemala Antigua, Mexico Altura, Peru, Kenya AA, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Sumatra Mandheling and Java Estate. Why buying from Serranos Coffee Company matters here
One house blend is named Monument Hill after the town, and it mixes light and dark roasts. Scones, cinnamon rolls, coffee cake, cookies and muffins, some of them gluten free, are baked at the Monument shop every morning and can sell out. From opening until 2pm the kitchen serves breakfast burritos and sandwiches, soups and paninis such as a turkey Reuben and a French dip.
Every bag bought from a Monument roaster pays roasting and cafe wages in Colorado, and the coffee reaches you days after roasting instead of months. That is the reason the club exists. Why local roasters matter.
