Rock Canyon Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Basalt, founded in 2012. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Rock Canyon was founded in Basalt in 2012 and has sold coffee wholesale since its first year. Its motto for the roast is "never bitter, never burned." The roaster says it aims to caramelize the sugars in the bean and hold back the compounds that make coffee taste harsh or burnt. Every order is roasted fresh rather than pulled from stored stock, and the roast date is written by hand on each bag.
Its longest running green coffee importer is Atlas Coffee Importers in Seattle. The company says it picks importers for their record on sourcing rather than chasing certifications. Rock Canyon says it has been carbon neutral since 2019. It tracks its own emissions from roasting, heating and its delivery van, then buys matching offsets through Terrapass.

House blends include Mountain Espresso, Rock Canyon House, Breakfast Blend, Brazilionaire, Leaps & Bounds, Day Star and Seasonal Roast. Single origins on the list when we checked: Colombia. Where to drink it
The roaster runs no cafe of its own, so its coffee is found at stores, hotels and resorts rather than at the Basalt address.

Why buying from Rock Canyon Coffee matters here
There is no Rock Canyon cafe. The company works as a dedicated roaster for grocery stores, hotels and resorts, and says it is sold in more than 30 locations across six Rocky Mountain states. A small van handles deliveries up and down the Roaring Fork Valley, and the roaster pitches its coffee at people who would rather be outside.
Every bag bought from a Basalt roaster pays roasting and cafe wages in Colorado, and the coffee reaches you days after roasting instead of months. That is the reason the club exists. Why local roasters matter.
