High Rise Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Colorado Springs, founded in 1995. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
High Rise is a family-owned micro roaster that has supplied Front Range coffee drinkers since 1995 from the historic Old Colorado shopping district. Over 30 coffees are in stock at any time. Batches are small and drum roasted, and the stock turns over often, so new coffees appear regularly. Its roasters track each batch by the sound and color of the beans as they develop.
Beans come from importers that deal closely and directly with farmers, and each single origin listing describes the farm or growing region. To curb pollution, the roaster runs an afterburner that cuts volatile emissions, and the shop recycles and reuses much of its waste.
What they roast
House blends include The Organic Blend, Vienesse Blend and French Roast. Single origins on the list when we checked: Mexican Oaxacan, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Chelbesa, Java Estate Taman Dadar, Rwanda Masaka, Organic Nicaragua Segovia, Peru Norte and Guatemala Huehuetenango.
