Helix Coffee Co. is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Breckenridge. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Helix roasts in Breckenridge at about 9,600 feet. It points out that thinner air and a lower boiling point change how heat moves through each batch. The roaster uses a fully electric system that it describes as carbon-free, and every roast is done in batches of about 10 pounds. A Farmer Impact Fund returns part of each sale to growing communities. Current partners include producers in Ethiopia, Brazil and a Guatemalan coffee that supports women growers.
In 2025 the company announced a move into a new production space, and it roasts inside its shop so visitors can watch.
What they roast
Roast levels run Light (single origins) and Medium (Flow-State). House blends include Flow-State. Single origins on the list when we checked: Ethiopian Banko Taratu and Kenya. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.

Why buying from Helix Coffee Co. matters here
Since May 2025 Summit County customers can bring their own canister or bag to the Airport Road shop and get $2 off a 12 ounce refill. On the fourth Saturday of each month the roastery holds a tour and tasting with live roasting. Casual visits that end with a pour over lesson can also be booked. Cafes, restaurants, hotels and shops buy wholesale. The house blend for cafes, Flow-State, is a medium roast of 80 percent Brazil and 20 percent Ethiopia.
Every bag bought from a Breckenridge roaster pays roasting and cafe wages in Colorado, and the coffee reaches you days after roasting instead of months. That is the reason the club exists. Why local roasters matter.
