Breckenridge Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Breckenridge. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
A few friends who cared about the outdoors and good coffee founded the company. They started small, with the goal of roasting what they call "Summit Worthy" coffee. Its Gold Standard line holds the head roaster's small, limited lots. The first came from the Bayter brothers of El Vergel Estates in Tolima, Colombia, whom the team met in Bogota in October 2019. Through a giving program called More Than Coffee, the roaster donates coffee to mountain volunteer projects and puts part of certain sales back into farming communities. One edition paid for jerseys for a youth soccer team in Guatemala.
The company says almost nothing from production goes to landfill. Retail packaging is compostable and wholesale coffee arrives in food-grade buckets that are swapped at each delivery.

Cafes and shops in Breckenridge, Keystone, Dillon and Frisco serve its coffee, including Steep in Keystone and The Crown on Main Street. It sells coffee aged in barrels from Breckenridge Distillery that previously held bourbon and rum. In spring 2022 the roaster set up a clothing drive at its Ridge Street cafe in Breckenridge to ship clothes to displaced Ukrainian families. Used grounds from the cafes it supplies are gathered with local partners to feed composting in Summit County.
Every bag bought from a Breckenridge roaster pays roasting and cafe wages in Colorado, and the coffee reaches you days after roasting instead of months. That is the reason the club exists. Why local roasters matter.
