Their story
Matt and Anne Burtchaell own the family business, and Matt is its head roaster. Coffee is air roasted in small batches, and microlots are bought one bag at a time, so each coffee disappears once it sells out. The owners sum up their approach in one line on the home page: "specialty coffee is a service, not a product."
The house espresso is blended before roasting from a dry processed South American coffee and washed Central American and Indonesian beans, and taken to a middle medium roast. Along with arabica microlots, the shop sells a washed robusta from La Laja in Veracruz, Mexico, under the name Mexican Jumpy Beans.

Espresso: Espresso Blend. Decaf: Ethiopia Guji Godina SWP; Colombia Antioquia Swiss Water; Decaf Espresso Blend. Why buying from Cafe Typica matters here
The owners describe their shop as the only independent coffee shop in the city of Glendale, Colorado. Its Nicaragua coffee comes through the Aldea Global women producer program from Finca Los Positos in Jinotega, and it also sells organic cascara from the DR Congo.
Every bag bought from a Glendale roaster pays roasting and cafe wages in Colorado, and the coffee reaches you days after roasting instead of months. That is the reason the club exists. Why local roasters matter.
