Alpine Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Aspen. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Andrew Wilz owns the company. The about page describes him as a commercial photographer and former elite athlete who has spent years photographing the world's shrinking glaciers. The Aspen Times reported that the roaster was previously based in Basalt before moving to Aspen, where Wilz handled deliveries from the West End himself. Green coffee is bought from regenerative growers in Ethiopia, Colombia, Rwanda and Burundi. Wilz told the Aspen Times he imports it directly and aims to match or beat the price growers ask.
The roaster favors experimental lots such as anaerobic and natural process coffees, and it leaves tasting notes largely up to the drinker rather than printing long flavor lists. Alpine Roasters says the roastery runs on solar power, roasts only to order to cut waste, and delivers around town on foot or by bike.

Single origins on the list when we checked: Costa Rica Hacienda Sonora Natural and Ethiopia Hambela Buliye Natural. Decaf: Colombia Huila EA Decaf. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.

There is no pickup; cuppings at its lounge inside Bosq Aspen are by appointment only.

Why buying from Alpine Roasters matters here
Its coffee program is tied to Bosq, the Michelin-starred Aspen restaurant, where the roaster first served from the patio and now holds cuppings by reservation. A summer 2026 update names Elevated Living, an Aspen concierge service, as the main local retailer for its bags and adds a 72 hour fermented Nicaraguan lot poured at Bosq.
