Vellichor Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Englewood, founded in 2012. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
In July 2012, Truett and Shana pooled savings and loans from family and friends to buy a Golden coffee shop they found on Craigslist, reopening it as Bean Fosters. The family business rebranded both shops as Vellichor Coffee Roasters in 2025. Both cafes are lined with used books for sale, and pastries are made in house.
The shops began roasting their own coffee in 2021, and in 2024 the roastery was split off as its own business to handle shipping and wholesale. Roasting happens on Monday and Thursday mornings in Englewood on a San Franciscan SF-25, which takes about 18 pounds of green coffee per batch. Its single origins are roasted in a light, third wave style meant to bring out sweetness, and the site says they taste best starting two days after roasting.
Truett owns and runs both cafes and the roastery, and some cafe staff also work on roasting and order packing.
What they roast
Roast levels run light. House blends include Levity Blend, Intensity Blend and Tropical Fruit Bombe. Single origins on the list when we checked: Uganda Rwenzori Natural, Costa Rica Jaguar Honey, Guatemala El Sarral, El Salvador Picacho, Colombia El Embrujo Natural and Ethiopia Limu Kossa. The roasting site is an office address; the Golden and Littleton cafes serve the public.
