Elevation Coffee Traders is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Englewood, founded in 1993. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The company has roasted coffee in Colorado since 1993 and grew into a supplier for cafes, restaurants, offices and shops. New owners took over in 2023 and put money into better green coffee, equipment and a new roasting facility. Production runs on two Spanish drum roasters, one holding 30 kilos and the other 70, and the team has modified both over the years.
The current roastery was set up so other specialty roasters can use it too, and it is shared with Hunter Bay Coffee, an organic roaster that started in Missoula, Montana. Its two Roure roasters come from a Barcelona maker that has built machines since 1948; the team fitted them with modern burner controls, roast software and variable speed fans. Exhaust from both machines runs through afterburners, and the company says it chose to rebuild its old roasters rather than scrap them.
The owners say automation is meant to take heavy, repetitive work off staff so people can spend more time tasting and solving problems.
