O.W.L Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Boulder. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
O.W.L. is short for One World Linked. Two of the three founders are registered dietitians, and they approach roasting much like cooking, as a mix of science and feel. One founder began delivering meals for Meals on Wheels of Boulder County after leaving a decade-long job, and those visits shaped the company's focus on coffee as a way to connect people. The company describes a planned volunteer program, Coffee Companions, that would pair volunteers with isolated or less mobile neighbors to meet over coffee, citing research linking loneliness to heart disease.
Most single origins are roasted light and come with a suggested resting time. The house espresso splits a natural Brazil and a washed Ethiopian coffee evenly at a medium dark roast. Some green coffee arrives through other roasters and importers. A Chiroso from San Agustin, Huila, for example, was bought in a small amount from Prodigal.

Roast levels run Light (most single origins) and Medium dark (espresso blend). Single origins on the list when we checked: Ethiopian Habtamu Fekadu Aga Danche, Santa Helena, Honduras Santa Lucia Casona, Kenya Gitare AB, Kenya Muburi AB and Hacienda Barbara.
