OTIS Craft Collective is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Lafayette, founded in 2012. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
According to its home page, the company has been roasting coffee in Lafayette since 2012 and sells it both retail and to a network of wholesale partners. The brand name honors Otis, Matt's maternal grandfather, a hands-on maker and fixer from Conway, Arkansas who was, the owners admit, a Folgers drinker. OTIS is a rebrand. The roasting business started in 2012 as Proper Grounds Coffee Roasters, and the owners say planning and building the new brand took about a year.
Cody and Matt sketched the OTIS concept in early 2018 and organized it around three stated values: connecting, carrying on the lessons of mentors, and creating things by hand. On the wholesale side, orders are roasted and shipped Monday through Friday, accounts within 15 miles can get local delivery, and every incoming lot of green coffee is cupped first.
What they roast
House blends include Handbuilt House Blend and Dog Days Cold Brew Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Guatemala Monja Blanca, Ethiopia Hambela and Colombia El Corazon. Espresso: Farris Fog Espresso Blend. Decaf: Conway Sway Decaf. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.

Bags and apparel carry a Rocky Mountain Roasted label, and the roaster credits the clear mountain air for part of the flavor. The decaf is called Conway Sway, after the Arkansas hometown of the grandfather behind the brand name. It is a sugarcane processed Colombian coffee from Tolima. The Post Brewing is listed among the wholesale accounts, and the roaster notes that it hosted a tasting where that team built a custom blend of its own.
