Moonrise Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Greenwood Village. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The company traces its outlook to island life on Maui and now air roasts its beans in small batches in Colorado, roasting after each order is placed. Beans are held on a stream of hot air during roasting rather than tumbled in a drum, a method the roaster says gives an even, smooth cup. The Ohana Blend is half Maui coffee mixed with a Central American bean, while Grand Lanai is made entirely from Maui coffee.
A third Maui blend, Maui Mahina, was put on hold while the island recovers from its wildfires, the product listing says. Philosopher's Blend is the house espresso, named for the owner's fondness for both espresso and quiet thinking. Its Costa Rica Hot Springs lot from Tarrazu is washed in volcanic thermal spring water, which the roaster says adds clarity and minerals to the cup.

House blends include Ohana Blend, Philosopher's Blend, All Stars Blend, Local Paradise, Full Moon, Dark & Early and Cold Moon. Single origins on the list when we checked: Guatemala Antigua, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Brazil Cerrado, Nicaragua Jinotega, Papua New Guinea Simbai, Costa Rica Jaguar Honey, Mexico Chiapas and Indonesia Java.
