Kind Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Colorado: an independent roaster based in Estes Park, founded in 2002. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The business grew out of the Estes Park Coffee Company, which opened in 1998, and took the Kind Coffee name in October 2002. Roasting started on a small 5 pound Diedrich machine, and bigger equipment came in as wholesale orders grew. Every coffee it sells is certified organic and fairly traded, in line with a mission focused on the environment.
Alpenglow, a Peru, Mexico and Guatemala blend, is the espresso used in the shop, while the Isabella blend is brewed for the house cold brew. The darkest coffee on the list is Roast 422, a blend of Peru, Honduras and Nicaragua whose name refers to Earth Day.

Roast levels run light, medium and dark. House blends include Bear Lake, Rocky Mountain Roast, Longs Peak, Estes Perk, Alpenglow, Flood Mud, 80517, Wake Up, Isabella, Roast 422 and Blue Scoot. Single origins on the list when we checked: Guatemala and Nicaragua. Espresso: Alpenglow. Decaf: Swiss Water decafs (Decaf French, Decaf Espresso, Decaf Longs). Why buying from Kind Coffee matters here
The company gives one percent of its bean sales to the Estes Giving Guest Program and a further one percent to 1% for the Planet. Blend names on the shop include Bear Lake, Longs Peak and 80517, which is the Estes Park zip code. The shop is a short walk from the Estes Park Visitor Center and its park shuttles, and elk and deer often graze in the green space beside it. Besides its own blends, the company takes wholesale accounts and handles coffee for weddings and events through inquiry forms on its site.
