Their story
The business started as a roaster and coffee shop in Leadville, the historic mining town at the foot of the state's tallest peaks, and later added a Canon City shop. It says it builds direct trade ties with growers and gives back both at home and in the farming communities. Its newest coffee, La Neutral, is named for La Hacienda Neutral, a fourth generation family farm in Jinotega, Nicaragua, that the team traveled to in order to buy directly.
The roaster describes La Neutral as shade grown, hand picked and naturally dried, and says every bag sold helps fund humanitarian groups in Nicaragua. Food at the Leadville cafe includes breakfast burritos, quiche baked on a shredded potato crust, fresh pastries, grab and go lunches and, roughly October to June, soups made daily.

Roast levels run medium, dark and espresso roast. House blends include Alpine Grind and Nordic Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: La Neutral (Nicaragua, Jinotega, direct trade). The roaster points out that no incorporated city in North America sits higher than Leadville, and it pitches its gift card as a small piece of the town. Mt. Massive Medium Roast is named for the peak that fills the skyline west of Leadville, Colorado's second tallest, and mixes Indonesian and Central American beans. Father Dyer's Dark Roast salutes a mining camp era figure who, per the product page, walked 600 miles to reach Colorado and later moved between camps on 10 foot skis. Alpine Grind is an Ethiopian blend offered each summer as a nod to the season when wildflowers bloom in the high country around Leadville.
