Their story
Bworz is a family-run wholesale roaster founded in 2003. The name is built from the names of the Kosinski family members: Ionish, Matthew, Ana and Carl. Green coffee arrives from over 20 countries, bought from cooperatives, smallholders and single estates that the company says care for their land and communities. Because Colorado's dry air changes how coffee roasts, green stock is kept below 65 percent humidity and pulled weekly rather than stored long term.
Batches are small and slow. The company says the altitude lengthens roast times and it does not raise the heat to finish faster. Coffee is not warehoused after roasting; customers receive it within a day.
What they roast
Roast levels run light, medium and dark. House blends include Safari Blend, Chicory Blend and Hazelnut Medium Roast. Single origins on the list when we checked: Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ethiopia and Indonesia. Espresso: Italian Espresso. A thermal oxidizer afterburner cleans the roaster smoke, chaff is composted and shipping boxes are reused until worn out, then recycled. For cafes it offers a White coffee, an extremely light roast espresso sold as a base for high caffeine drinks.
